Pit A River Museum Ashmolean
The Pit A Rivers Museum in Oxford is a collection of a lot of things from various countries and cultures.
It is a space assembled by a collector who was a hoarder who displayed things in a really neat way and culturally.
When I arrived there, as a person who loves a rummage, I thought I would enjoy the exploration. At first glance however, walking round it began to feel quite heavy. The Pit River has some fascinating items and the building strikes me as Victorian from the inside layout
The Ashmolean has a grander space worked in a minimal space. Walking through take your time as there is still a lot of work within a big building. Works that are once again a collection but laid out in a different way, telling a story as a museum does, and enabling you to walk through, lighter.
However, it is a large building that takes a while to get through.
Looking at both exhibitions, I feel this sense of heaviness from both spaces and I recommend taking time to get through these exhibitions, although they both have a different approach to layout they both have a lot of work to get through.
