Continuing to explore spaces to film 

Continuing to explore with film I had myself filmed in the market square. A man was sitting and I filmed him for about ten minutes. This filming felt strange and uncomfortable to me. I was scared to offend, trying to be discreet and not seen. I continued filming on the bus, on the embankment near Trent Bridge and at home playing dress up. These shots are ordinary at least that's what I was aiming for in this process.

The reason for the black and white is that I wanted to strip down to basics and this reflects getting to the root, going to raw places.  It is also classic a traditional and it instantly projects thoughts of a past. With me already looking at Charlie Chaplin and wanting clarity in what one is saying. Looking back towards the first film within the project I sculpted layers with the sound and picture leaving you with a discomfort of chaos although also some kind of clarity. This part of the project I wanted to simplify partly searching for something simple in aesthetics yet it speaks out. 

 By wearing the Skelton costume and wig I am doing this to hide, yet show the emptiness-ending of life, death, depression.  Eating at the table, stuffing my face with snacks, filling up those empty spaces when I do not feel anything, doing mundane everyday things, and filming in colour continuously filtering black and white. It's like the extremes of thinking entirely empty or totally high in black and white. The neutralness of colour enables the viewer to focus on things through the traditional classic black-white filter setting a tone with everyday ordinary things. It is what we associate it with in our minds it's the history of black and white film and it appears to be so buried in the psyche that it works with the narrative. It works with the presentation of sound.

German expressionism and film noir

 Going through my feedback about the for audio-to-body feel, I found a note that said that the person felt the sound was making them think of Film Noir. I thought this was interesting so I decided to take it on and watch some of these films. This minimal black and white interested me in developing the visual more in a minimal but striking style. This thought process when looking at the previous one, was layered, raw, expressive, loud and distorted.  Black and white could have me simplify and draw the focus into a more vulnerable place.  Drawing the viewer to a more fragile space.

 German expressionism is a genre of film influenced by the works of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud psychologists known for their insight into the human condition. Instantly watching this film at the top I see resemblances with the distorted view of darkness over expressed shadows within the works of Tim Burton and I have grown up unknowingly introduced to this genre through him. With this strong association, it shows how bedded within the association of horror and sadness this kind of vision is caused instantly this is what comes to mind and this really drives forward within imagery dark blue colours, visual strong tones and shadows. 

  Film noir which came after the great depression is influenced by German expressionism. It contains a subtle dark visual and it's the classic black and white genre of film which is associated with Hollywood, so beauty and tragedy. This softer approach to sadness and darkness is more mainstream and palatable reflecting ordinary life; visually in a way that looks normal  

When think about emptiness in these films I feel connected to my use of film, sound and physicality exploring movement, environment and the tone of muddy minimal hope.

Charlie chaplin a slapstick   filmmaker actor with his physical yet emotional expressions there is a subtle sadness sometimes sensitivity and humor within his works of Charlie Chaplin this is what want to take as his work is physically perfectly choreographed with the music playing with his performance in my exploration of performance I thought about this and took this into my work with the use movement and the approach with words within mimanal sound.

In this moment of uninhibited creativity, I drew inspiration from the timeless elegance of silent cinema, channelling the spirit of pioneers like Charlie Chaplin. Through the simplicity of minimalistic aesthetics and the absence of spoken words, I sought to tap into the universal language of the human experience—a language that speaks directly to the heart.

As the first light of dawn painted the sky in hues of rose and gold, I stood amidst the echoes of my creation, humbled by the power of artistic expression. In dancing with sound waves and Braille, I had discovered a newfound freedom—a freedom to communicate without boundaries, to tell stories without words.

As the world began to stir awake, I found solace in the knowledge that, though our languages may differ, our emotions remain universal.
