Looking at lyrics 

Continuing my body feel project when thinking about being in a place of depression and emptiness. 

The feeling of wanting to be heard.

 Feeling unheard confused communication visual and audio and texture. 

Taking the lyrics I intend to translate them into braille.

Braille is used by people who are blind could my words be seen and felt through another language continuing this into sign language ears to not be heard but to communicate again in another way.  

And to look at sign language and to read the lyrics. 

Then looking at the sound wave layers of communication 

And use symbols in relation to what I am saying in the lyrics.

This project delves into the revaluation of the human condition through an innovative blend of remixing, sound, visuals, word expression, and vocal acting. The core ideas include:

The element of remixing crosses into resourceful recycling and reusing bringing forth a new vision. So many ideas flow through one's mind but we can not do it all so we adapt and see things differently

Final film

Returning to the first piece of footage

I did various films in space only to return to the place that moved me. As I walked around I felt like 

I was being moved around to the point where I found myself feeling really emotional.

That is a real feeling that a place can have me feel that way,  it moved me. I have never seen such a beautifully arranged garden. 

I created the vocals and the character and sound production, slowing down the film and giving the film a black-white filter. I filmed in a garden that is in a church and this really worked and played into this sad, yet hopeful, position which was  remixing and reassessing the human condition-emptiness. 

 The final show edit with re-recorded lyrics due to the distortion on the recording. I felt the clarity was not there. There was a problem with my microphone so I decided to re-record this weekend.  I recorded the process Although I am not entirely happy with the result it still appears to work. And so I let go of the final major project .

Struggling to find a shelf to rest the projector on, I had to use the office cabinet. Furthermore, I had to expand the original space to give the film more centralisation to where it is projected. This is so there was no overspill of the moving image from the centralised area within the film thereby giving it a great finish and bringing the bottles from the first leg of exploration; thus creating a sculpture of emptiness with bottles falling full of nothing.

House sound inspire

Sound inspiration

Listening to the recording titled Keyfull and then adding vocals I began the listen to this album thinking of the soulful house as gradually went through development with the sounds at 120. bpm sound created for the film.

When creating some of the sounds within the piece I was looking at this album created in Paradise Garage for the time this type of house music influence I took into the recording.

Continuing to explore spaces to film 

Continuing to explore with film I had myself filmed in the market square. A man was sitting and I filmed him for about ten minutes. This filming felt strange and uncomfortable to me. I was scared to offend, trying to be discreet and not seen. I continued filming on the bus, on the embankment near Trent Bridge and at home playing dress up. These shots are ordinary at least that's what I was aiming for in this process.

The reason for the black and white is that I wanted to strip down to basics and this reflects getting to the root, going to raw places.  It is also classic a traditional and it instantly projects thoughts of a past. With me already looking at Charlie Chaplin and wanting clarity in what one is saying. Looking back towards the first film within the project I sculpted layers with the sound and picture leaving you with a discomfort of chaos although also some kind of clarity. This part of the project I wanted to simplify partly searching for something simple in aesthetics yet it speaks out. 

 By wearing the Skelton costume and wig I am doing this to hide, yet show the emptiness-ending of life, death, depression.  Eating at the table, stuffing my face with snacks, filling up those empty spaces when I do not feel anything, doing mundane everyday things, and filming in colour continuously filtering black and white. It's like the extremes of thinking entirely empty or totally high in black and white. The neutralness of colour enables the viewer to focus on things through the traditional classic black-white filter setting a tone with everyday ordinary things. It is what we associate it with in our minds it's the history of black and white film and it appears to be so buried in the psyche that it works with the narrative. It works with the presentation of sound.

German expressionism and film noir

 Going through my feedback about the for audio-to-body feel, I found a note that said that the person felt the sound was making them think of Film Noir. I thought this was interesting so I decided to take it on and watch some of these films. This minimal black and white interested me in developing the visual more in a minimal but striking style. This thought process when looking at the previous one, was layered, raw, expressive, loud and distorted.  Black and white could have me simplify and draw the focus into a more vulnerable place.  Drawing the viewer to a more fragile space.

 German expressionism is a genre of film influenced by the works of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud psychologists known for their insight into the human condition. Instantly watching this film at the top I see resemblances with the distorted view of darkness over expressed shadows within the works of Tim Burton and I have grown up unknowingly introduced to this genre through him. With this strong association, it shows how bedded within the association of horror and sadness this kind of vision is caused instantly this is what comes to mind and this really drives forward within imagery dark blue colours, visual strong tones and shadows. 

  Film noir which came after the great depression is influenced by German expressionism. It contains a subtle dark visual and it's the classic black and white genre of film which is associated with Hollywood, so beauty and tragedy. This softer approach to sadness and darkness is more mainstream and palatable reflecting ordinary life; visually in a way that looks normal  

When think about emptiness in these films I feel connected to my use of film, sound and physicality exploring movement, environment and the tone of muddy minimal hope.

Charlie chaplin a slapstick   filmmaker actor with his physical yet emotional expressions there is a subtle sadness sometimes sensitivity and humor within his works of Charlie Chaplin this is what want to take as his work is physically perfectly choreographed with the music playing with his performance in my exploration of performance I thought about this and took this into my work with the use movement and the approach with words within mimanal sound.

Expressive Layers: Dancing with Sound Waves and Braille

An artist who has a background of working with sound and projection. Her work plays into bringing people into worlds reminiscent of clubbing spaces, uniting through sound. She is a visual stimulation artist from UK who uses AI within her work . After attending a workshop presented by Rebbecca Smith I took some of those tools using Chat gpt in my exploration of the original lyrics written. This use of AI I have taken into my work .

Bringing the layers together gave a look of a language that was readable to the eye of another world with the braille layering over the sound waves and the body. When turned to the side it looks like a building . It is giving me digtal 80s computer graphics electro this is what is see for all of the diffrent coloured versions . However the top to bring more moodness the creating of this layering was moving into this image of the body that almost resenbels a xray the braille and the sound waves is something like insides hanging out raw for the world to see . Hear a sound  no we see the sound wave in its raw state and I know that people are blind but the language raw it doesnt translate to the everyday person and the xray looking at ones insides .

Beeston film festival 2024

Attending the Beeston Film Festival for research gave me insight into what was possible with short films. I have not been to a film festival before this was very helpful as for development into the future with my work and what is possble  within the direction of my artistry.  Two of the films that stood out were Marie and Everything is Out to Get Me. The use of sound within both films I found to be interesting and it is something I have taken into my work thinking about the environment. The pace of the film and the scenery and want to develop more knowledge with this

ARTIST RESEARCH Moby

 Moby is an artist who works with guitar and voice and contrasts with sampling and electronic sounds weaving these worlds and creating a meloncoly-like wonder. With an honest tone he is very good at picking out samples the character, the voice, the vocals. They tell a story and you feel the pain, a world unknown that leaves you wondering as dances with a modern sound touch the heart.With my love of sound however, when trying to create a character I want to sound like another world, another time,  a feeling of then, not now, or a questioning of where with the minimal black and white video
